Ecotope modelling for terrain

Ecotope modelling is a method to analyze the terrain, and calculate ground textures and plant layout according to what is most probable at a certain place. Example: In winter, a terrain vertex on a tall mountain above 3000m with a very steep slope will almost certainly be rendered as plain rock. At the same altitude, but with less slope, this point might be covered with snow.

Each color in the screenshots represents a different ecosystem. Each of them has a unique texture, and a certain scheme of plantdistribution. These things are calculated in real-time, so no editing has taken place to get the shown results. Procedural texturing and 3d plants are not implemented at the moment, but the result already looks good without them!
